The graphic designer is responsible for the creation of the visual language, the mixture of words and images, with which we all communicate each day. To speak that language clearly and creatively is a task that requires visual skill, a joy in solving problems and an intelligent, individual curiosity about all aspects of our lives. Whether it's a magazine or a book, an advertisement or a package, poster, logotype, street sign, annual report or even a college calendar, it's the graphic designer whose job it is to communicate clearly the raw information contained, and to illuminate the ideas and spirit of that information in the most appropriate, imaginative and compelling form possible.
The Graphic Design Program at Holland College provides students with the skills necessary to access the challenging and creative field of graphic design. Exploring the historical and contemporary aspects of graphic design and utilizing state of the art technology and production tools provides graduating students with strong portfolios to venture out into the field or use as a stepping stone to another career path. |
